Brand Review: Make The Make Official

I have seen Make The Make Official on instagram & was so excited to receive these goodies to try!

Who are they?

MAKETHEMAKE is a line of makeup-infused skincare that takes into consideration skin types, conditions and tones to attain the best possible result and finish for each customer. We focus on the base complexion because healthy and beautiful skin is our passion and expertise“.

This brand infuses skincare with make up, which makes me so excited!

Niacinamide Soft Focus Primer

What is it?

Niacinamide Soft-Focus Primer is an innovative, silky and creamy gel that prepares your skin before using foundation, creating a light reflective, blurring, illuminating barrier between your skin and your make-up to prime your complexion for colour. Niacinamide in the formula is a potent antioxidant, with long-term skin brightening benefits. Silica works as a priming, protective base and light pink pearl has a subtly enhancing effect on the natural glow of your skin”.

Initial Thoughts

I struggle with some primers, I am not a fan of the silicone feel, although they seem effective. This primer actually surprised me, I wasn’t expecting much.

I like the packaging – an airless pump. Unsure on the recycling aspect…I will look into that.

One pump is more than enough for the whole face. As soon as you dispense the primer you can see the pearlescent effect in the cream. I tend to pump the primer onto the back of my hand, then take a little and warm between my fingers then smooth into the area of the skin the primer is needed. For me, it’s usually on my T zone.

The texture is creamy, smooth and thicker than some I have used. The cream melts beautifully into my skin, absorbing quickly, smoothing out pores and gives my skin a soft blurring effect.

It seems to boost hydration in my skin, adhere to foundation, no pilling, or make up slip and it gives a subtle glow. It really prepped my skin for the foundation, it didn’t make my skin any greasier throughout the day, but helped keep everything in place really well.

The fact this contains niacinamide is also another plus since it is used in skincare to help visibly improve enlarged pores, uneven skin tone, fine lines and wrinkles and dullness.

Vitamin B Flawless Filter Foundation

What is it?

a high coverage, satin-matte finish with added antioxidant protection and moisturising benefits, for a complexion that looks and feels its luminous best. The high-pigment formula provides a flawless, smooth and comfortable finish that blends seamlessly to conceal hard-to-cover imperfections and will last all day

Initial Thoughts

The first thing I am sure you all want to know, how many shades do they do…only 7! Not the biggest range, hoping they will continue to introduce new shades. I was sent shade N3.

The best part of Make The Make Official is the little chart they use to explain coverage and finish. It makes it so easy to see which product you are looking for. I would agree that this foundation is a full coverage and the finish is in the middle.

I have tested this product out several times and on different occasions now. I have used the foundation with the primer above, with my YSL All Hours primer and without any primer. I have to say it has worn well every single time!! The foundation had the ultimate staying power with the YSL primer, but then that primer is incredible!

I tend to apply this foundation with a brush, putting a small pump on my hand (you really don’t need a lot to get good coverage, it is highly pigmented) and working the foundation into the buffing brush then working the product from the centre of my face outwards. It blends beautifully and easily! You can continue to apply until you reach the desired coverage. It covered blemishes and breakouts with ease and evened my skin tone flawlessly.

The foundation felt light and not claggy on the skin. It gave a beautiful finish, not a dull matte or luminous glow, but a nice middle ground. I added my own glow with other products and the foundation seemed to work well along side them.

When I wore the foundation to work, it had very good staying power. It lasted right up until bed time with minimal breakdown and no collection of product in the pores. Shine did creep in towards the afternoon/evening, but with an oily T zone I rarely find I stay matte all day.

I also tested this foundation on a night out. It was amazing!! I built up the foundation slightly more, to give me a really full coverage and it looked flawless!! When I say flawless, I want to stress, it wasn’t heavy or piled on thick, it still managed to look like natural looking skin! It got me through dinner, drinks and dancing (sweating too) with minimal touch ups throughout the evening. When I came to removing my makeup at bedtime I was very surprised by how fresh my make up still looked!

Niacinamide Powder

What is it?

Niacinamide Setting Powder is an ultra-lightweight, ultra-translucent loose setting powder infused with antioxidant Niacinamide that sets make-up for all day wear with a skin-perfecting, airbrushed finish. Formulated with light-diffusing particles that have a blurring and smoothing effect, and light reflecting Mica, this loose powder features universal shades for a perfect finish for all skin tones“.

Initial Thoughts

First of all…the packaging is great! The pot has a little twisty top inside the main screw top container. This means you can close up the holes so it doesn’t spill everywhere, some powders I have had spilt everywhere when I opened the outer packaging. LOVE this…it’s the small things haha

Sometimes when I try powders which are white in colour it makes me nervous. I always think I will look a bit chalky and if someone takes a photo with a flash, I might get the dreaded flash back.

Again, this product contains niacinamide which is a great ingredient and I love that it has been infused with the powder.

I found it really light, finely milled and mattifying without making you look like a ghost or dull. It gave my skin a soft blurring without the loss of glow and kept my shine at bay most of the day. As an oily T zoned gal, I struggle to keep shine at bay ALL day, but if I can make it to around 2pm, we are onto a winner! Great powder for setting your makeup without the cakey feel.

This powder is great for anyone who likes to use the baking technique, I have to say I have never really tried this, but the loose powder would work really well.
