Vichy Dermablend Foundation

My skin has been more than a little troublesome recently.  I have been struggling with my diet (yeast & dairy intolerant) and it is making a fabulous appearance on my forehead!

I have heard so many people recommend Vichy Dermablend foundation

What is it?

“High coverage, long-wear foundation, suitable for minor to moderate skin concerns including acne and blemishes, dark circles, rosacea, vitiligo, tattoos and scars”.

“Dermablend Corrective Fluid Foundation is formulated with a 25% pigment concentration for a flawless finish, and provides up to 16 hours of wear, even coverage and 24-hour hydration. Suitable for all ages and all skin types, including sensitive skin”.

Initial thoughts

I have been looking for a foundation that can cover imperfections, blemishes and redness.  This was recommended to me by a dermatologist and I happen to have noticed the lovely @emshelx is a big fan! I ordered this foundation online and had to guess to shade, but you can buy this in boots too.  It comes in 11 shades.

  • Application

I applied this foundation using a brush, strangely I have been using more of a stripping brush.  I feel it gives a better finish, sometimes a flatter foundation brush leave streaks on my face. I only apply a very small amount at a time and work it into the skin, you can build the coverage as you need it.  I have to say on first application I was in love!!  The coverage is amazing, it hid any redness and inflammation and made my skin look smooth and flawless.  A flipping miracle at the moment.

  • Texture

The product itself is quite thick, so can be hard to blend (hence only using a small amount at first). It feels light on the skin despite it being a thicker foundation, which I like, nothing worse than feeling caked! it is very smooth and leaves my skin feeling and more importantly looking flawless.

  • Staying power

Vichy claim the foundation lasts up to 16 hours and keeps skin hydrated for up to 24hrs.  I have been wearing this on a daily basis for work and have oily/combination skin.  I have to say its staying power is fairly good.  I started to notice some redness from my blemishes coming through around 3pm (foundation was applied at 7.30am), I think the my oily skin does make foundation cake a little.  With other foundations I usually have to apply a little top up of powder early afternoon so this wasn’t a complete inconvenience.

  • Extras

I think it does add a small amount of hydration to the skin, but wouldn’t say this was hugely noticeable. definitely not the main reason to purchase this product.

Most shades contain SPF 35 (excluding shades 65 and 75, which are SPF 25). This is another bonus for the winter months.

Pros:

  1. Easily available in shops and online
  2. Leaves skin smooth, flawless and evens skin tone
  3. Covers redness from blemishes and inflammation
  4. Buildable coverage
  5. Provides hydration and includes an SPF
  6. Does last most of the day (on my skin and I have oily skin)

Cons:

  1. Only available in 11 shades
  2. Can be hard to blend, best not to apply too much at a time
  3. Did cake on my skin after about 7/8hrs.  This could be resolved with a quick blend and a top up of powder.  Not a deal breaker for me.
